The Network Cultura para cambioIt is among the 15 projects selectedin the framework of the first call for the programme PLATO, titled “Strengthening Civil Society with the objectives of promoting the rule of law, participatory democracy and good governance, as well as defending the area of civil society and freedom of the media”.The Bodosaki Foundation, acting as co-sponsor and coordinator, in partnership with NGO Support Center in Cyprus, announced the Civil Society Organizations selected to receive a grant under the program “Protecting Democracy, Human Rights and the Rule of Law through an Open Civic Space” (PLATO), with a total budget of €3.1 million. The PLATO programme is co-funded by the European Union under the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV-2024-CITIZENS-VALUES) programme, as well as by the Bodosakis Foundation and the NGO Support Centre. Its objective is to strengthen the protection of the fundamental rights and values of the EU, through the support of civil society organisations in Greece and Cyprus, as well as the strengthening of their knowledge, capacities and sustainability.
The Culture for Change project approved for funding is titled”Co-formation of ethical frameworks in the era of Artificial Intelligence by Civil Society — S.I.M.A.“. The duration of the project is 14 months, with a total budget of €60,000, and will be implemented in Athens, Thessaloniki and Heraklion.
The proposal recognizes that Artificial Intelligence (AI) profoundly affects society, transforming the way we work, communicate and perceive human rights and social justice. Through participatory workshops, policy discussions and collaborations with civil society bodies, the S.I.M.A. project aims to collectively formulate an action plan for the ethical and socially just use of AI.
This action aims to strengthen public dialogue on technology, create bridges of cooperation between culture, research and politics, and help shape policy proposals for a future where technology serves people and democracy.
