On May 23, Konstantina Karameri, representing CForC, participated in the second day of69th Pearl Conference* Live Performance Europewhich took place at the Athens Concert Hall, at the Think Tank with the theme “20 Years of the UNESCO Convention on Cultural Diversity: Reflections from the Past to the Future”, a text probably more current than it was 20 years ago.
The meeting raised a number of areas for reflection: how can the Convention further contribute to cultural policy making? How can we create mechanisms to preserve cultural diversity, whether locally or internationally? What measures can be taken to encourage access to different cultures through the mobility of artists? How can artistic freedom as a constituent element of the artist's status be integrated into politics? Where and how do these objectives become visible in the selected funding lines and programmes?
On the discussion panel were: Anita Debaere, Office Manager of the Pearle Network*, Ms. Monica Tsiliberdi, Head of the Department of Contemporary Creation Development of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Mrs. Valeria Marcolin, Co-Director of NGO Cultura e développement.
The dialogue highlighted crucial issues and proposals for the future of cultural policy in Europe and internationally. This participation is part of wider actions to strengthen cultural diversity, supporting dialogue, cooperation and the integration of the cultural dimension into development policies.
